Elephant Hunts in Botswana

WLH Safaris offers premier elephant hunts in Botswana focused on mature trophy bulls, authentic safari experiences, and conservation driven hunting practices. Operating in the highly regarded CT 8 concession between the Makgadikgadi National Park and Central Kalahari National Park, these hunts provide access to one of Botswana’s most promising elephant hunting regions.

Botswana Elephant Hunting Trips

These Botswana elephant hunts combine traditional tracking with strategic glassing and spot-and-stalk hunting methods. Days typically begin before sunrise with long hours in the field, tracking bulls through the bush and monitoring movement near water sources. Bush lunches and full day hunting excursions are a normal part of the experience.

Unlike many elephant hunting operations that focus on filling tags, WLH Safaris prioritizes age and trophy quality above all else. The primary focus is on harvesting old bulls, particularly elephants expected to produce ivory in the 70+ pound category or bulls nearing the end of their natural lifespan.

Trophy selection is based heavily on age, body condition, and overall maturity. Older bulls with broken tusks or worn ivory may still qualify if they represent the correct age class. Younger bulls are intentionally passed to maintain the integrity of the hunting program and support long term conservation goals.

About The Botswana Hunting Areas

The CT 8 concession is considered one of the top elephant hunting blocks in Botswana for mature trophy bulls. Located between two major national parks, the area creates a natural corridor for elephant movement throughout the season. The dry terrain and limited water sources naturally concentrate mature bulls as they travel through the region.

A major factor shaping the 2026 season is the rare flooding of the Boteti River. For the first time in decades, water is expected to flow deep into the hunting area, creating increased elephant movement and unprecedented opportunities for mature bull encounters. This rare environmental event is expected to draw bulls from surrounding regions and increase activity throughout the concession.

What To Expect on Your Hunting Trip

Professional Hunting Team

Each safari is supported by an experienced team of professional hunters, trackers, and support staff. Hunts typically involve multiple vehicles and coordinated tracking teams that allow coverage across the entire concession.

The experienced tracking staff play a major role in the success of these hunts, using years of bush knowledge and elephant behavior understanding to locate mature bulls in challenging terrain.

Botswana Safari Accommodations

Hunters stay in comfortable accommodations near the Boteti River with air conditioned cottages and essential amenities designed for extended safari stays. While the camp maintains an authentic safari atmosphere, guests can expect clean, comfortable lodging after long days in the field.

Travel Information

Hunters arrive through Maun Airport, followed by approximately a two hour road transfer to camp. Charter flights are also available from Maun or Gaborone upon request.

Botswana law requires a minimum .375 caliber rifle for elephant hunting. Rifle rentals are available if needed, and assistance with firearm import permits can also be arranged.

The hunting season runs from April 1, 2026 through January 31, 2027, with the prime elephant hunting months generally occurring from June through October during the drier part of the season.

I have been hunting with Wade Lemon Hunting for 5 seasons. We have harvested some really nice trophies. They have access to great areas and can assist in obtaining special, limited or restricted tags. The team of guides they have are really excellent, they are very knowledgeable and passionate about trophy quality and hunt hard to give you the best hunting experience possible. I have several hunts scheduled with them this season and I’m really looking forward to each one.

I have been fortunate to be able to hunt with Wade Lemon Hunting multiple times and have enjoyed great success with there team of professional guides. If you want to hunt with people that are passionate about their work and put year-round dedication into finding the biggest trophy animals for that special tag, WLH is the outfitter you are looking for.

I was searching for a high quality mountain lion hunt. Wade Lemon had been recommended to me by a trusted associate in Texas. I researched some other outfitters but ultimately chose Wade. It turned out to be a great decision. Wade’s guides’ busted their backs for me and were top notch in every aspect. By the end of the hunt I was rewarded with a world class trophy. The experience was everything I was hoping for. I’m already working on booking my next hunt with Wade and his team.
